Van is a Tony® Award and Grammy® Award winning producer.  His credits include The Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess (Tony® Award), Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella (Tony® Award nomination), Anastasia, Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette and Diablo Cody  (Tony® Award nomination), How to Dance in Ohio, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, Matilda (Tony® Award nomination), Evita (Tony® Award nomination), Gore Vidal’s The Best Man (Tony® Award nomination), Catch Me If You Can (Tony® Award nomination), The Velocity of Autumn, Big Fish, Bonnie & Clyde, Chinglish, the Off-Broadway production of You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown (2016) and ROOMS a rock romance and the national tours of Anastasia, Matilda, Cinderella, The Lightning Thief and more. He was also a producer of Master Class with Tyne Daly and the 2022 and 2023 productions of Bonnie & Clyde in London’s West End.  Upcoming: Death Note, Goodbye New York, SMASH, Little Dancer, Song of Bernadette, Figaro: An Original Musical and more.

Van co-founded Broadway Records which released nearly 300 albums such as cast albums for shows including the Grammy Award winning The Color Purple 2015 revival with Jennifer Hudson and eight that were Grammy® nominated (Matilda, Once On This Island, My Fair Lady, Fiddler on the Roof with Danny Burstein, Burt Bacharach and Steven Sater’s Some Lovers and Stephen Schwartz’s Snapshots, Caroline, or Change, Randy Rainbow’s “A Little Brains, A Little Talent”) as well as Anastasia, Guys & Dolls (2023 London production), Assassins, Groundhog Day, Bandstand, Disaster!, Allegiance, Side Show, The Visit, The Lightning Thief and the soundtracks for NBC’s television events The Wiz LIVE! and Peter Pan LIVE!, the 2017, 2018 and 2019 Tony Award Season albums (in partnership with the Tony Awards).  Van has executive produced and released solos albums from many notable Broadway artists including Patti LuPone, Micky Dolenz, Nick Cordero, Annaleigh Ashford, Marin Mazzie, Norbert Leo Butz, Carmen Cusack, Laura Osnes, Faith Prince, Aaron Tveit, Laura Benanti, Sierra Boggess, Bebe Neuwirth, Jarrod Spector and Andrea McArdle as well as live albums from Emily Skinner & Alice Ripley, Adam Pascal and Anthony Pascal, Ahrens & Flaherty and the Shapiro Sisters and many more.  In 2024, Van Dean launched a new label, Center Stage Records, that will be taking on nearly 2/3 of Broadway Records’ catalog and has dozens of new albums in the pipeline, starting with the Original Broadway Cast Recording of How to Dance in Ohio.

He co-produced Broadway For Orlando’s “What The World Needs Now Is Love” to raise funds for the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida. The charity single was featured on NBC’s “Maya and Marty” and at the Democratic National Convention in 2016.  He co-conceived and co-Executive Produced the anti-bullying single “I Have A Voice” featuring 70 Broadway kids from Matilda, School of Rock and more and co-produced the new Broadway United music video of “We Are The World”. He also co-conceived and produced From Broadway With Love: A Benefit Concert For Sandy Hook featuring 100 Broadway stars, a 40 piece orchestra and 300+ children from Newtown and From Broadway With Love: A Benefit Concert for Parkland, USA at the BB&T Center Arena in Sunrise, FL and co-produced the Emmy® Award winning From Broadway With Love: A Benefit Concert For Orlando. He is also a co-producer of the feature film documentary “Midsummer in Newtown” which premiered as a Spotlight selection at Tribeca Film Festival. Van has several film and television musicals in pre-production. 

Van also designed the artwork/packaging for 40+ Broadway recordings including 5 that were Grammy® nominated. He was co-producer of the Sandy Hook/Newtown, CT productions of Seussical The Musical, A ROCKIN’ Midsummer Night’s Dream, The 101 Dalmatians Musical and served as a production consultant on Liberty Smith, The Lion King Jr, School of Rock (Youth Production), The Wizard of Oz, Newsies and Matilda.  Van is a member of The Broadway League, Theater Resources Unlimited and was a founding member of NewArts dedicated to healing through the arts and serves on the board of the Oscar Hammerstein II Museum and Theater Education Center. Van is a graduate of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
